Dr. Shea A. Stark, DC
Doctor of Chiropractic
Dr. Shea Stark was born in Conroe, Texas near Houston. She moved to Phoenix, Arizona at the age of 13 where she discovered her passion for volleyball. She played year round through high school and was awarded a full athletic volleyball scholarship to Yavapai College in Prescott, AZ before being recruited to play at a small Division I university in Greensboro, NC called North Carolina A&T State University where she received full athletic scholarships in both volleyball and bowling. She earned her Bachelor's degree with Magna Cum Laude honors in Biology in 2007. It was in Greensboro, NC where Dr. Stark found her love for Chiropractic. Having decided to forego medical school, Dr. Stark started researching other health care opportunities. She found a local sports chiropractor to shadow and after the first day, she was hooked!
After researching chiropractic schools, Dr. Stark decided to return home to Houston, Texas to attend Texas Chiropractic College (TCC). However, before she could start at TCC, she was injured while playing volleyball and had to defer. It was during that deferment that she reignited her passion with volleyball by coaching! She coached at the high school club level for two seasons before she started at TCC. She started at TCC in the Fall of 2011 and immediately became very involved in chiropractic associations. She traveled to Washington, DC in February 2012, the first of three consecutive years, with the Student American Chiropractic Association (SACA) to attend the National Chiropractic Legislative Conference to lobby on Capitol Hill on behalf of the chiropractic profession. Upon returning, she decided to run for Vice President of her SACA chapter; an office which she held for two terms, in order to continue promoting chiropractic. During her involvement with SACA, Dr. Stark also got involved with SACA Sports Council and helped to develop a chapter at TCC. She served as President of the chapter for two terms where she organized educational discussions between faculty and students on such topics as concussion assessment and injury prevention, planned multiple 5K runs to benefit Keep A Breast Foundation and the Arthritis Foundation, and helped to bring sports injury related certifications to campus, including FAKTR and Functional Taping for Musculoskeletal Injuries.
Her involvement in SACA Sports Council led to her running for the National Student Executive Board for the ACA Sports Council. She served a term on the national board as Secretary and another term as 2nd Vice President. She was awarded the ACA Sports Council Student Service Award in October 2014. Dr. Stark graduated from Texas Chiropractic College in December 2014.
After doing a six week internship at ProChiropractic in Fall 2014, Dr. Stark fell in love with the area and the people and decided to move to Bozeman to join the practice. She is certified in FAKTR, RockTape, FTMI (Functional Taping for Musculoskeletal Injuries), Selective Functional Movement Assessment (SFMA) and Graston Technique (phase 1). She will also be returning to her passion for volleyball by coaching at Big Sky Volleyball Club in Bozeman.
Since joining Pro Chiropractic, Dr. Stark has continued her involvement with the ACA Sports Council by joining the Symposium Committee. She also joined the ranks of the International Federation of Sports Chiropractors (FICS) when she was appointed to the Membership Commission where she is currently working to bridge the gap between practicing doctors and students by creating a Student Commission within the organization.
